A Classic Toastie with a Better Bite
This recipe gives the familiar grilled cheese a lift by using spelt bread for a deeper, nuttier flavour. The texture stays crisp on the outside and soft in the centre. It is simple, warm, and ideal for quick meals. Each slice melts evenly and holds the filling without getting soggy.
Why the Caramelised Onions Matter
Slow-cooked onions bring a hint of sweetness that pairs well with the melted cheese. They balance the richness and add depth without effort. This combination works well for lunch, light dinners, or a relaxed weekend snack. The recipe is straightforward and gives repeatable results every time.
