- Butter each slice of spelt bread.

- Pour custard evenly over the bread.
- Press gently so bread absorbs liquid.
- Sprinkle demerara sugar on top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and set.
- Rest for 5 minutes before serving.
