Spelt Ginger Scones – Warm, Spicy, and Easy to Bake
Description
These scones are soft, gently spiced, and made with wholegrain spelt flour, ground ginger, and stem ginger. Quick to mix and perfect for chilly mornings.

250 g, Wholegrain Spelt Flour

Preheat Oven: Set to 200°C (fan 180°C). Line a baking tray with parchment.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and ground ginger.

Add Butter: Rub in cold butter with fingertips until mixture looks like breadcrumbs.

Add Ginger and Sweetener: Stir in chopped stem ginger and sugar or honey.

Add Liquid: Pour in buttermilk and vanilla. Mix gently until the dough comes together. Don’t overmix.

Shape Dough: Turn onto a floured surface. Pat into a 2.5 cm thick round. Cut into 8 wedges or use a cutter.

Top and Bake: Transfer to tray. Brush with milk or buttermilk, sprinkle sugar if using. Bake for 18 minutes or until golden.
